THURCASTON NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
On Thursday 23rd of February, over 80 people packed themselves into Richard Hill school hall, to hear from their local police officer, P.C Stephen Rhodes and regional neighbourhood watch representatives from Leicester and Loughborough. This followed a recent Speight of burglaries, which took place in Thurcaston during January. .
It was after these burglaries that a group of local people took the initial steps towards setting up a neighbourhood watch scheme within the village. It is hoped that through working alongside the police, the village can become a safer, and a securer place to live. To date12 villagers have volunteered to become street contacts, and will shortly be distributing information packs to every house. It is also anticipated that a newsletter will also be posted to everyone to inform them of what’s been happening, in and around, the village on a periodic basis.
Whilst these are still very early days, and there is still plenty of work to be done in the way of organisation, early feedback has been very positive and encouraging.
